You can install the Training Centre on your phone, tablet or computer so it has its own icon and opens full screen like an app. Installing changes how you open the portal, not what it does: you still sign in with your PIN, it still needs an internet connection, and it has no offline mode or fingerprint sign-in.

Where to find it: the Install Training Centre App banner at the top of the Training Centre home screen, or your browser’s own install or Add to Home Screen option.

What installing does and does not do

You get You do not get
A QTRACA icon that opens the PIN screen for your site.Offline training. The portal needs a connection, installed or not.
A full-screen window without the browser’s address bar.Fingerprint or face sign-in. You always use your PIN.
Notifications work the same as in the browser, once allowed.Staying signed in. Closing the app ends your session, just like closing the browser tab.

Installing

  1. Open the portal from your link or QR code on the device you want to install it on. This matters: the device remembers the link, and that is how the installed icon knows which company and site to open.
  2. Enter your PIN. On the home screen, the Install Training Centre App banner reads Add to your home screen for quick access!
  3. Press Install and confirm in your browser’s install window.

The banner appears only in browsers that can install web apps, such as Chrome and Edge, and only while the portal is not already installed on that device. The × hides it for 7 days.

iPhone and iPad: Safari does not show the banner, and an icon added with Share > Add to Home Screen keeps its own storage, separate from Safari’s. It cannot see the link Safari remembered, so it opens Invalid Access Link. On these devices, bookmark the portal link in Safari instead, or add the bookmark to your Favourites.

Availability and permissions

  • Any trainee can install the portal on their own device; there is nothing for staff to switch on.
  • On a shared site tablet, one installation serves everyone: each person opens the app and enters their own PIN. Close the app when you finish, which signs you out.

Things to know

  • If the app shows Invalid Access Link, your company has issued a new portal link and the device has forgotten the old one. Open the new link or scan the new QR code once, and the app works again.
  • Offline mode and biometric sign-in were removed. Older instructions describing training offline, saving answers to sync later, or signing in with a fingerprint no longer apply.
  • The installed app is named QTRACA, not Training Centre, because it is the same app your company’s staff use.
  • Uninstall the way you remove any app on your device. It removes nothing from your training record.
  • For signing in, PINs and lockouts, see Accessing the Training Portal.
