A learning path is a planned sequence of training, such as everything a new production starter does in their first month. It strings courses and documents together in the order your company wants them done, unlocks each step when the ones before it are finished, and shows how far through you are. Progress is worked out from your actual training records, so nothing has to be ticked off by hand, and training you had already completed counts straight away.
Where to find it: Training Centre > Learning Paths > Start Learning or Continue on the path.
Concepts
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Step | One item in the path: a training course (shown as Training) or a document (shown as Document). |
| Required | A step you must complete. Required steps are done in order: each one holds back the steps after it until it is completed. |
| Optional | A recommended step. It never holds anything back and does not count towards your progress percentage. |
| Progress | The share of required steps you have completed. |
Quick start
- On the home screen, under Learning Paths, press Start Learning (or Continue).
- Press Start Next Step, or Start beside a step that is not locked.
- Complete the course or document that opens.
- You return to the path, where the next step is now unlocked.
- Repeat until every required step is done.
Your paths on the home screen

| Status badge | Button | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| NOT STARTED | Start Learning | No step completed or under way yet. |
| IN PROGRESS | Continue | At least one step completed or assigned, and required steps remain. |
| COMPLETED | View Details | Every required step is completed. |
The number beside the section heading counts paths that are not started or in progress.
The path screen

The top card shows the path name and description, Your Progress with a step count and percentage, and a button for the next step. Below it, Learning Path Steps lists every step in order with its REQUIRED or OPTIONAL badge, its type, and for completed steps the completion date and any quiz score.
| Step state | On the right | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Completed | Green tick | The course is completed or signed, or the document is acknowledged or passed. |
| Not started | Start | Available, and not yet assigned to you. |
| In progress | Continue | Assigned to you and not yet finished. This includes an overdue item and a document quiz you failed and need to retake. |
| Locked | Padlock, greyed out | Cannot be started yet. See Locked steps. |
Start assigns the step to you if it is not assigned already, then opens it: a course opens the course, a document opens Read & Acknowledge or its quiz. Start Next Step: step name (or Continue: step name) at the top does the same for the first step that is available and not yet completed. See Completing a training course, Reading and acknowledging a document and Taking a quiz for the steps themselves.

Once Hand Washing Procedure was acknowledged, the path moved to 2 of 4 steps and 67%, and Food Safety Fundamentals unlocked. It shows Continue because that course was already assigned to Hemi.
Locked steps
A step is locked for one of two reasons. Point at the padlock (on a computer) to see which:
| Reason shown | Why, and what unlocks it |
|---|---|
| Complete “step name” first | An earlier required step is not completed. The name is the first unfinished required step. Complete it and every step after it up to the next unfinished required step unlocks. |
| Complete the prerequisite courses for “course name” first | The step’s course has prerequisites you have not completed, even if they are not in this path. For example, a Forklift Operation step stays locked until Site Induction is completed. Complete the prerequisite course; ask your supervisor if it is not assigned to you. |
If you try to start a step that has become locked, the reason appears in red at the top of the screen and nothing is assigned.
Optional steps and progress
- Optional steps never hold anything back. Skipping one does not lock the steps after it.
- An optional step can itself be locked by an unfinished required step before it. In the New Starter Induction path, the optional Allergen Awareness step stays locked until the required Food Safety Fundamentals step is completed.
- The percentage counts required steps only. The step count above the bar counts all steps. That is why the example shows 2 of 4 steps but 67%: two of the three required steps are done, and the fourth step is optional.
- Completing an optional step does not change the percentage, and a path can be completed without it.
Finishing the path
When the last required step is completed, the path becomes COMPLETED. Whenever you open it from then on, Congratulations! You have completed the learning path! appears with the path name (press Continue to close it, or it closes by itself after a few seconds), and the top card shows Learning Path Completed! with the completion date. The path stays on your home screen with View Details.
Availability and permissions
- Learning paths are part of the Training module. Paths with document steps also need Document Management.
- Your supervisor or training manager assigns paths. Assigning a path assigns its first available step to you straight away; later steps are assigned when you start them.
- A path that staff have deactivated disappears from your home screen.
Things to know
- Training you already have counts. A course or document completed before the path was assigned, or completed from Training Courses or Document Training rather than from the path, still marks the step completed.
- Path order applies inside the path only. A course that is locked here can still be opened from Training Courses if it is already assigned to you. Doing so still counts towards the path. Course prerequisites are enforced everywhere.
- A quiz course step counts as completed once submitted, whatever the score. A document quiz step needs a pass.
- An excused course does not count towards the step. If a supervisor excuses you from a course in your path, the step shows as not started.
