A training course is something your company has assigned you to learn and sign off: reading material with a declaration, a quiz, or a hands-on practical assessment. You work through document and quiz courses yourself in the Training Centre and finish by signing a training declaration. A practical assessment is different: an assessor watches you do the task and signs it off, so the portal only tells you that it is waiting for them.

Where to find it: Training Centre > Training Courses > Start Training on the course.

Course types

Type What you do in the portal Finished when
DocumentRead the course content, fill in anything it asks, Confirm, then sign the declaration. You confirm (completed), then sign (signed). A trainer marking you as attending a classroom session also completes it.
QuizAnswer the questions, Submit, then sign the declaration. See Taking a quiz. You submit; your score is recorded.
Practical AssessmentNothing. The course opens to a message saying it is waiting for your assessor.Your assessor records a pass.

Quick start

  1. On the Training Centre home screen, find the course under Training Courses and press Start Training.
  2. Work through the content. Press Save to keep your progress and come back later.
  3. Press Confirm (or Submit for a quiz) when you have finished.
  4. Under Training Declaration, read the statement, draw your signature and press Save.
  5. You return to the home screen, or to your learning path if you started the course from one. The course is now in Archives.

The course list

Each card shows the course name, its description, the due date for a course still to do (Due:, in red once it has passed) and Start Training. The list holds courses you still have to do and courses you have completed but not yet signed. Once signed, a course moves to Archives. Courses a trainer has made inactive are not shown.

Document courses

A document course opens as a form built by your trainer. It can contain reading material, pictures, attached files and questions or fields to fill in. At the bottom are two buttons:

Button What it does
SaveKeeps what you have entered. You can leave and carry on later from the same place.
ConfirmFinishes the course. Every required field has to be filled in first; if one is missing, a message names it: “field name” must be entered before confirmation. Confirm is hidden while your device is offline.

After Confirm, the form closes and the training declaration appears. Your answers can no longer be changed.

The training declaration

The Training Declaration for Site Induction with the declaration text, an empty Sign Here box, a Clear button, and Save greyed out until a signature is drawn

The declaration is your signed statement that you have been trained. Unless your company has written its own declaration for your language, it reads:

I accept I have been trained in course name, and I understand fully the content that was provided during the session. I will use the provided training to help fulfil my daily duties, and understand the implications and consequences if this training is not followed.

  1. Draw your signature in the Sign Here box with your finger, a stylus or the mouse. Clear wipes it so you can try again.
  2. Press Save. The course is marked signed and you return to the home screen, or to the learning path you started it from.

Save stays greyed out until you have drawn something, because an empty signature is not accepted. Once saved, the signature cannot be redone, so check it before pressing Save.

If you leave before signing, the course stays in Training Courses as completed. Open it again with Start Training to sign. For a quiz course, your answers are shown read-only above the declaration.

Courses that need another course first

Some courses have prerequisites: other courses you must complete first. For example, Forklift Operation requires Site Induction. Until every prerequisite is completed, the course will not open. Instead of the content you see a warning naming what is missing, such as Complete Site Induction before starting this course.

The warning comes with a Back to Menu button. Complete the named course (it will be in your Training Courses list if it is assigned to you; if not, ask your supervisor) and the blocked course opens normally. The check is made when you open the course and again when you save or confirm it, so it cannot be skipped.

Practical assessments

The Forklift Operation course showing This course is completed when your assessor signs off your practical assessment, with a Back to Menu button

A practical assessment proves you can do a task safely, so it cannot be completed by clicking through a screen. Opening one shows This course is completed when your assessor signs off your practical assessment.

Your assessor goes through a checklist with you in person, and both of you sign in QTRACA. When they record a pass, the course is completed for you and moves to Archives. See Conducting a practical assessment for what the assessor does.

Availability and permissions

  • You can open only courses assigned to you. Staff assign them directly, through a training role, through a learning path, or when a recurring course is due again.
  • A course scanned from a printed course QR code opens straight after your PIN, if it is assigned to you. Otherwise you see Not Assigned.

Things to know

  • The same course can appear twice if it has been assigned to you more than once, for example when a recurring course is renewed. Each card is its own record.
  • Confirm and Submit are final. There is no way to reopen a completed course to change answers. If you made a mistake, tell your supervisor, who can assign the course again.
  • Learning path order is not enforced here. A course that is locked in a learning path can still be opened from Training Courses if it is assigned to you. Prerequisites, by contrast, are always enforced.
  • Recurring courses come back. A course set to recur (for example yearly) is assigned again when it falls due, and appears in Training Courses as a new card.
