Enhanced UI Goods Workflow changes the receipt and dispatch screens into a worklist built for tablets. The lines become a list down the left, the line you are working on opens beside it, and a panel says exactly what is still stopping the document from posting. Nothing about what a receipt or dispatch records changes: the same fields, checks and rules apply. What changes is how you move through them.
Where to switch it on: Enhanced UI Goods Workflow in Account Settings (General). It applies to every user on the account, on Inwards Goods receipts and Dispatch.
Concepts
| Part | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Header strip | One line across the top: the supplier or customer, the date, and any warning about the document as a whole. Header opens the full header fields when you need them. |
| Lines | Every line on the document, with its quantity and one phrase saying where it stands, and a progress bar such as “0 of 102 posted”. |
| Line pane | The line you picked, opened beside the list: its checks, a scan button, the line's fields, and the buttons to save it. |
| Before you can post | Shown when no line is open. Lists everything still stopping the document from posting. Each entry opens the line it is about. |
The screen
Opening a receipt shows the header strip, the lines, and what is still to do before it can post:

Each line in the list shows its product code, quantity (received against ordered, such as “18 / 25 kg”, where there is an order) and one status phrase:
| The line says | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ready to post | Nothing on the line itself is missing. |
| The reason, for example “No use-by date has been entered” | One thing is missing, and this is it. |
| “2 things to finish” | Several things are missing. Open the line, or read the Before you can post list, to see them. |
| Batch … | Posted, showing the batch it went in as. |
| On QA hold / Rejected | Receipts only. The line has been put on hold (with the reason, if one was given) or rejected. A rejected line counts as dealt with in the progress bar. |
Below the list are the buttons to add lines: Add line, and where they apply Misc line and Pull from PO (or Pull from SO on a dispatch).
The header strip holds the document's own buttons, beside the header they act on: Post Receipt (or Post Dispatch) once it can post, Back, and, while the header is open, Save and Save & Close for the header fields. A saved document opens with the header closed, because the lines are the work; a new one opens with it open.
Working a line
Tap a line to open it beside the list:

- Checks on delivery (on a dispatch, Checks before dispatch) lists the checks this line asks for, such as Packaging, Label, Temperature, E-cert and Allergen. A check still to do is red, a done check is ticked, and one that needs attention shows a warning, for example a temperature outside range that a supervisor approved, or packaging with minor defects. Tap a check to jump to its field. Only checks the line's supplier product asks for appear.
- Scan the supplier label fills the batch number, use-by date and quantity from the label's barcode in one go. On a dispatch, Scan the product label fills the product, pack size and batch.
- A line from an order shows the Ordered quantity in its top corner.
- The line's fields are the same as on the standard screen, laid out for touch.
- The barcode button prints a barcode label for the line, and the … menu holds the line's other actions: Post, QA Release, Non-conformance, Audit History and Print Barcode, as they apply.
- QA hold puts the line on hold with a reason (receipts only).
- The main button saves the line and moves on, and says exactly what it will do, for example Save 50 L and go to CSUGAR. It goes to the next line that still needs something, not simply the next one down, wrapping round to the top. On the last outstanding line it just says Save.
- × closes the line and returns to the Before you can post list.
Saving a line does not post it. A line is posted when the whole document is posted, or from the line's … menu.
Before you can post
With no line open, the right-hand side lists everything stopping the document from posting, with a count such as “71 things left”. Each entry names the problem and the line it is on; tap it to open that line. Problems with the document as a whole, such as “The receipt has not been visually inspected”, are listed once rather than against every line.
When everything is done the panel says “Every line on this receipt is ready.” (or “…on this dispatch…”) and Post Receipt or Post Dispatch can be used.
The list comes from the same rules that decide whether the document may post, so it never disagrees with the Post button. Which checks are required depends on each line's supplier product: a batch number, for example, is only required where that supplier product records one.
On a dispatch
A dispatch works the same way. The header strip shows the customer and date, the sales order it came from, and Post Dispatch. The panel is headed Before you can dispatch, and most entries on a new dispatch are “No batch has been chosen”.

As on a receipt, an open line from an order shows the Ordered quantity in its corner, so the picker can see what the order asked for while choosing batches.
Long documents and Another batch
- Find a line. From 9 lines, a Find a line box appears above the list. Type part of a product code, description or batch number.
- On a long document the line list scrolls on its own beside the open line, and keeps the selected line in view.
- Another batch saves the line and opens a new one for the same product, with the quantity still to receive (or still to pick) filled in, for when one line arrives or ships in more than one batch.
See Receipting inwards goods and Creating a dispatch for exactly what Another batch fills in, and when it is not offered.
Availability and permissions
- Switched on or off for the whole account in Account Settings. With it off, receipts and dispatches use the standard grid of lines.
- The same permissions apply as on the standard screens. A user who cannot edit a receipt or dispatch can open lines but not save them, and Post Receipt and Post Dispatch only appear for users who can post.
Things to know
- Nothing is lost by switching. The worklist and the standard screen show the same records; you can switch the setting either way at any time.
- Save moves on, it does not post. Work through the lines, then post the document from the header strip.
- The Save button follows what you type. It quotes the quantity in the field now, not the one last saved, so check it before tapping.
- Built for tablets, works anywhere. On a narrow screen, such as a tablet held upright or a phone, the list and the open line take turns: the list shows until you open a line, and closing the line brings the list back.
