A dispatch request records that a delivery is expected before anyone prepares it — useful when a customer books a slot ahead of time, or when sales and the warehouse are different people.
Switch it on first. Dispatch requests are controlled by the Use Dispatch Requested Date and Qty setting in Account Settings. With it off, dispatches start at Created and there is no request step.
Raising a request
- Go to Dispatch and choose New Dispatch.
- Enter the customer and the requested date.
- Add the products and the requested quantities.
- Save. The dispatch sits in Requested until someone prepares it.
Turning a request into a dispatch
When the goods are ready, open the request and work it up into a real dispatch: assign the batches, confirm the quantities actually going, and carry on through the normal flow.
The requested quantity stays visible beside what is being sent, so a short delivery is obvious at the point it happens rather than discovered later.
Things to know
- A request holds no stock. Nothing is reserved until the dispatch is prepared and posted.
- Requests are not required. With the setting off, or simply unused, dispatches begin at Created.
